What is the 'Cut Energy Bills Act'? It Could Benefit You, Living in the Jacksonville, Fl Area.

For folks that live in the Atlantic Beaches or Jacksonville Florida area, a tax cut bill has been passed to assist you in saving money on your heating and cooling costs. The ‘Cut Energy Bills at Home Act’ has been devised by Senators Snowe, Feinstein and Bingaman that gives homeowners a tax credit if they make energy improvements on their home.

These tax credits are given to those that make improvements that will make their homes more energy efficient, such as sealing their windows, doors or any place cold air may escape or come in, insulation improvements and by the purchase of energy efficient equipment.

Air conditioning repair or installation and heating repair or installation is a part of that equipment. Contractors hired to perform air conditioning repair or installation or heating repair or installation who is listed as an accredited Building Performance Institute or the Residential Energy Services Network Energy Smart Home Performance Team who will use a model to figure the home’s energy costs, will place the tax credit into motion.

Anyone living in the Atlantic Beaches or Jacksonville Florida area should contact their contractors equipped to perform energy efficient installation of heating and cooling systems to contract the work. The contractor can then begin the steps to claim the tax credit.

The tax credit is anywhere between $2,000 to $5,000 for accomplishing the home improvements. The incentives already in effect are for contractors to install equipment or measures that meet efficiency standards. The total percentage of reduced energy costs are compared to the home, which boosts homeowners incentive to take care of air conditioning and heating installation, but leaves the total air sealing and insulation package out. This new tax credit can provide jobs, keep the air cleaner and save homeowners money at the same time, producing an all round winning solution for all.
