In 2021, Charlie’s Tropic Heating & Air Conditioning took part in the Bryant True Heroes Award ceremony by presenting the award to Aviation Electronic Technician First Class John Burke. AT1 Burke is a local sailor stationed in Naval Station Mayport and has been recognized for the huge difference he has made in the Jacksonville, Florida community.

The Bryant True Heroes Award was created to recognize selfless individuals who go out of their way to make a positive impact in their local community. These are people whose incredible actions often go overlooked in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

To be nominated, True Heroes must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Have performed actions beyond what is normally expected
• Have had a measurable or significant impact on their community
• Be of strong, unimpeachable character

After finding AT1 Burke to fit all of these criteria and more, he was given the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp before the start of the Saturday Night Game. And after the ceremony, AT1 Burke enjoyed the honor of throwing the First Pitch!

AT1 Burke’s Story

AT1 John Burke has spent more than 18 years in the United States Navy. During his time in the service, he has taken on a variety of leadership roles and has received recognition for his outstanding performance, including the Navy marine Corp Achievement Medal. His dedication to his fellow sailors goes above and beyond the call of duty as he volunteers for a number of causes – including clean-ups, feeding single sailors, and working with the Boy Scouts and local Little League teams.

The team at Charlie’s Tropic Heating & Air is proud of our part in presenting AT1 Burke with the 2021 Bryant True Heroes Award. We worked tirelessly to ensure AT1 Burke and his family received this honor and enjoyed an unforgettable experience at the event.
